Important Changes to NHL LIVE for the 2022-2023 Season

Originally published July 6, 2022.

The NHL LIVE streaming service will no longer be available in Canada at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 NHL® season, but the good news is next season you can use Sportsnet+ (formerly Sportsnet+) to watch all the same out-of-market and national games, all Stanley Cup Playoffs matchups, plus even more regional games with fewer blackouts*.

Where do I purchase a subscription to stream NHL games for the 2022-23 season?

For the 2022-23 NHL® season, you can watch all the same great matchups previously available from NHL LIVE, including every out-of-market NHL game, by signing up for Sportsnet+ PREMIUM (formerly Sportsnet+).

I am an NHL LIVE subscriber and was informed I would be able to access Sportsnet+ Premium (formerly Sportsnet+) for the same price I paid for NHL LIVE. How do I purchase Sportsnet+ at that price?

You will receive an email with a promo code prior to the start of the 2022-23 NHL season. Keep an eye on your inbox in the fall for more details.

What is Sportsnet+?

Sportsnet+ is Canada’s premier live streaming service and the ultimate streaming home for NHL Fans.

Like NHL LIVE, Sportsnet+ is a product of Rogers Sports & Media and offers more than 1,000 regular season NHL games, every game of the Stanley Cup® Playoffs, plus Sportsnet’s extensive lineup of live sports content, including Blue Jays and MLB, Toronto Raptors and NBA, WWE, and more. Users also get access to all of Sportsnet’s original content like Sportsnet Central, Plays of The Week, and Gotta See It.

What NHL content can I expect with a subscription to Sportsnet+ PREMIUM?

Users will get access to the same out-of-market games on Sportsnet+ PREMIUM that they previously enjoyed on NHL LIVE, including games from all Canadian and American networks.

A subscription also includes content not available in NHL LIVE, such as more regional* hockey games for the Flames, Oilers, Canucks and Leafs, Hockey Central, Trade Deadline coverage, NHL Awards, Entry Draft and Free Agency, making it a more complete destination for hockey fans.

How come Sportsnet+ is not available on my device of choice?

Sportsnet+ is available on the most popular devices in Canada, including game consoles, Apple TVs, Android TV, Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV. Check back regularly for updates on device availability.

What devices is Sportsnet+ available on?

Can I access Sportsnet+ from more than one device at a time?

Yes.

A user is able to watch concurrently on up to two devices at a time.

Will radio feeds for NHL games still be available?

Yes. Radio feeds will be available on the NHL app and NHL.com free of charge.

Does Sportsnet+ have all the same features as NHL LIVE?

Sportsnet+ PREMIUM provides the same out-of-market games that are available on NHL LIVE, including games on-demand, plus many exciting features such as goal markers, in-game catch-up highlights, multi-length game recaps and the ability to watch up to four games at once with multi-game view.

Features that will not be available for the 2022-23 NHL season on Sportsnet+ include home and away broadcasts for every game and the ability to listen to radio broadcasts. Home and away broadcasts (where available) will be available for every Canadian team.

Note: Some features vary by device

Are blackout rules the same on Sportsnet+ PREMIUM as NHL LIVE?

For out-of-market games, the same blackout rules apply, but for users in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario, Sportsnet+ PREMIUM offers even more games because Sportsnet owns the in-market rights for the Flames, Oilers, Canucks, and Leafs.

For more information about blackout rules, head over to the Sportsnet+ Support Blog.

I’m a French language customer. Will French games be included, or a French package available?

Select French games will be included in Sportsnet+ PREMIUM for the upcoming season, however, a dedicated French pass will not be available.

*For users in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario, Sportsnet+ PREMIUM offers even more games because Sportsnet owns the in-market rights for the Flames, Oilers, Canucks, and Leafs. For more information, visit the Sportsnet+ support blog article at Stream NHL Games with Sportsnet+
