Sportsnet+ FAQ
What is Sportsnet+?

How much does it cost per month?

Sportsnet+ is available for purchase in four ways:

7-Day Pass ($9.99): This pass gives access to Sportsnet++ content and lasts 7 days from the point of purchase. It is a one-time purchase that allows users to watch a specific event or events on Sportsnet that occur within a 7-day period.

Sportsnet+ ($19.99/month): This pass gives access to Sportsnet’s elite lineup of sports and channels. You pay one month at a time and are able to cancel at anytime without commitments.

Sportsnet++ Monthly ($27.99/month): More leagues and content, including over 500 NHL games, blackout-free. You pay one month at a time and are able to cancel at anytime without commitments.

Sportsnet++ Annual ($249.99/annual): Commit for the year and enjoy a savings of over 25% versus purchasing Sportsnet++ monthly for 12 months. This pass is a one-time charge and you cannot cancel once purchased.

The subscription runs 12 months after your point of purchase. For example, if you sign up in March, your subscription will run until March of the following year.

Find out what content you’re getting in Sportsnet+ by clicking here.

Can I access Sportsnet+ internationally?

No. Sportsnet+ is only available for use in Canada. If you are travelling abroad, you will not be able to stream our channels.

Why is there lag between a live game on TV and the Sportsnet+ stream?

The lag time compared to live broadcast is dependent on the device being used, the location and connection of the user, and other factors. The lag time is typically between 30-60 seconds.

Because internet streaming lags behind television, your sports apps may send off a notification of a goal or a result before you have seen it. If you wish for this not to happen, you must disable your game alerts/notifications.

Will I be required to sign in every time I visit Sportsnet+?

As long as you have cookies enabled, your login is remembered and you should not have to login via future visits to the site or apps in the majority of cases.

There are a number of cases that will require you to enter your login credentials again, including periodic expiry of your login, clearing of browser cache, switching browsers, logging out, or visiting in private mode on your PC.

What is the difference between Sportsnet+ and NHL LIVE?

NHL LIVE™ and Sportsnet+™ are opposite products from one another, serving two different types of sports fans. NHL LIVE is an out-of-market hockey product, while Sportsnet+ is for multisport fans and NHL fans who want to choose the amount of hockey to watch.

Sportsnet+ ($19.99/month)

If you live in Edmonton and want to watch Oilers games, you would be able to watch all 82 of their games (39 national + 43 regional) without blackouts, making Sportsnet+ the product for you.

Sportsnet++ ($9.99, $27.99/month or $249.99/annually)

Sportsnet++ allows users to choose how much hockey they would like to watch.
Sportsnet+ allows a user to livestream 300+ regular season games, depending on where you live, while Sportsnet++ lifts blackouts for all Sportsnet exclusive games, totalling over 500.

Sportsnet++ also allows users to stream more non-hockey content, such as Bundesliga, FA Cup, IndyCar and Premiership Rugby.

NHL LIVE

If you live in Winnipeg but want to watch the Montreal Canadiens (making you an out-of-market fan), or if you just want to watch the largest volume of NHL games possible,  NHL LIVE would be the product that best suits your needs.

For more detail on differences between NHL LIVE™ and Sportsnet+™, click here >

Note: Sportsnet is the sole rights-holder to the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks, as well as 56 Toronto Maple Leafs games. Sportsnet does not own the regional rights to the Montreal Canadiens (50 games), Ottawa Senators (55 games) or Winnipeg Jets (60 games). As a result, only their national games are available with a Sportsnet+ subscription.

What is the difference between Sportsnet+ and Sportsnet++?

The Sportsnet+ package includes over 300 total NHL games, including all 82 games of the Oilers, Flames or Canucks, or 56 Maple Leafs games, depending on where you live. In order to get one of these team’s regional games, you must reside within their broadcast region. Regional blackouts apply.

The Sportsnet++ package will lift regional blackouts for every NHL game that is exclusive to Sportsnet in Canada, totaling over 500 NHL games blackout-free.

In addition to more NHL games, subscribers will get 100+ additional NBA regular season games, and hundreds of extra matchups from the Bundesliga, FA Cup, IndyCar and Gallagher Premiership.

Why does some of the content in Sportsnet+ differ from what is shown on television?

In rare circumstances, Sportsnet does not have the same rights to show content online or mobile as it does on TV. If that is the case, we may blackout specific programming.

Are there NHL regional blackouts in Sportsnet+?

Sportsnet+ has two different packages in order to let subscribers choose how much hockey they would like to watch.

On the Sportsnet+ $19.99/month package, users are subject to NHL blackouts. If a user is an in-market fan of the Oilers, Flames or Canucks and wishes to get their team games, plus all national games(over 300 NHL games in total) they can choose the $19.99/month package.

If a user wants to watch all Sportsnet exclusive games (over 500 NHL games in total—blackout-free), the Sportsnet++ package would better suit their needs. In addition to over 500 NHL games blackout-free, Sportsnet++ subscribers get hundreds of extra  Bundesliga, FA Cup and Gallagher Premiership matches, plus every IndyCar race.

Click here to learn more about regional blackouts.

I think an NHL regional blackout is being incorrectly applied. What do I do?

If you are experiencing a blackout, it may be because your IP address is being incorrectly mapped to a different location.

If you are experiencing a blackout that you feel is being incorrectly applied, please email nowsupport@sportsnet.ca and they will help remedy the situation

Is there a way to watch a show or game after it has aired?

If you wish to watch Sportsnet original programming after it has aired, you can access it on-demand on our desktop site. Simply sign in and proceed to the ‘Shows‘ tab, click on your desired show and episode and begin streaming.

If you missed a game and would like to watch it, proceed to our desktop site to utilize the “look-back” feature. Sign in and proceed to the Schedule’ tab and roll the schedule back to the date and time the game originally aired and click on it to begin streaming.

Note: The look-back functionality is only for the past 24 hours. Anything beyond that time period is not accessible.

Is Sportsnet World available in Sportsnet+?
